Mission and Outreach Support

We are committed to making a difference in the world

Mission work and outreach into our surrounding community and world are integral to our understanding of the Christian faith and life, and we are committed to bringing justice, equity, dignity and honor to all peoples in this world.

The Mission and Outreach Committee at Emmanuel seeks to provide adults and youth with awareness and education around social and racial justice concerns - both locally and globally. The Committee offers speakers and activities around themes or causes, and the parish is invited to support related financially worthy organizations through coffee hours, seasonal offerings, and drives when possible. Expansion of our current mission includes plans to engage the outside community when realistic in such awareness and education. Our local outreach efforts have included three ongoing local Food Ministries: the Wakefield Food Pantry (Emmanuel was a founding member), Horizon House, and Bread of Life.

All parish and community members are welcome to join us in these efforts.

Over the years, we have learned about and supported both local and global organizations that work with hunger, housing and shelter, education/youth, health, environmental and economic sustainability, refugee and immigration, disaster relief, and the elderly. Our initiatives have included racial justice education, drives for Syrian Refugees, Ukraine, and foster children.

Some of the organizations we have supported and partnered with in recent years include:

OUR VISION

Emmanuel embodies Christ’s light in service to all. Here, through God’s love and grace, all are accepted, purpose is found, and together we flourish.
