Emmanuel Episcopal Church invites the community to attend its May Soul Supper on Wednesday, May 14, 2026, featuring a thoughtful and timely conversation titled
War and Peace in Jewish and Zionist Thought
The evening includes a free community dinner from 6:00 to 6:45 PM, offering space for fellowship and connection. This is followed by a one-hour conversation at 6:45 PM, led by Rabbi Greg Hersh, founder of V’ahavtah, a Cambridge-based Jewish spiritual community rooted in the call to love, compassion, and justice.
This conversation will explore:
● Jewish and Zionist perspectives on war, peace, and identity
● The moral and spiritual tensions many are navigating within the Jewish community today
● Questions of belonging, faith, and responsibility in a time of global conflict
● How the enduring call to “love your neighbor as yourself” shapes responses to division and suffering
Rabbi Greg Hersh brings a unique and deeply personal perspective, having founded a new Jewish community in response to growing questions and tensions surrounding Israel, identity, and faith within contemporary Judaism. This event is not a debate, but a space for listening, reflection, and thoughtful engagement. All are welcome, regardless of religious background.
"At Emmanuel, we believe that faith calls us not away from difficult conversations, but into them—with compassion, humility, and a commitment to love," said Brett Johnson, Rector at Emmanuel Episcopal Church. "This Soul Supper offers an opportunity to sit together, wrestle with meaningful questions, and remain grounded in our shared humanity. We invite everyone to the table—both for dinner and for conversation."
Please RSVP if you plan to attend in person or need the Zoom link. For more information, call 781-245-1374.
