In the midst of a busy holiday season, Emmanuel Episcopal Church is inviting the community to a peaceful evening of music, candlelight, and prayer. On Sunday, December 7th at 5:00 PM, Emmanuel will host Choral Evensong, a traditional Anglican service sung near dusk to gently close the day in beauty and peace.
Evensong weaves together psalms, scripture, sacred choral music, silence, and prayer. The result is a contemplative atmosphere that feels restorative and deeply grounding — whether one is rooted in faith, exploring spirituality, or simply seeking a quiet and meaningful pause.
“Evensong creates space to breathe,” said the Rev. Brett Johnson, rector of Emmanuel. “It’s music-led prayer — not something to analyze or perform, but something to receive. It’s a gift of stillness in a noisy world.”
No previous experience with church, music, or liturgy is needed; attendees are invited simply to listen, reflect, and rest.
